I recently realized the discomfort one goes through (other than dehydration & exhaustion!!) while running in humid weather. All my recent runs which last more than an hour, have been in shoes which are completely wet (its almost as if I am wearing shoes which have been soaked in water) on the inside. Its the same feeling while I am running in the rains. The reason why this happens is that perspiration from my singlet and shorts (both of them are dri-fit), drips through my legs, to my socks (again dri-fit) and finally into my shoes. And once it enters the shoe there is no place for it to go.
Are there any shoes which suck out the fluids from inside to the outside and keep the inside of the shoe dry? (well as dry as it can get in the given conditions). Or, how does one stop the body sweat from entering the shoes (something like sweat band for ankles)? Any suggestions??

i'd be surprised if there aren't any shoes designed for this issue. typically 'netted' shoes that have some sort of mesh or breathable fabric since even ur feet need that ventilation.
socks also play the role of absorbing sweat, similar to a sweat band. y dont u wear the regular socks instead of the ankle length ones?
another option would be to wear the full length bicycle shorts equivalent.
Thanks kb. The shoes I wear are netted & have breathable fabric, but that is useful only when the perspiration levels are normal (in humid Bombay weather they just dont seem to work).
Can't really wear full length or even regular length biking shorts, as they are very uncomfortable in hot and humid weather.
I guess I will have to experiment a little with socks then, maybe wear the dry fit shoes under regular length socks.
I would advice you to try longer socks then you currently use. Go for cotton ones so that the sweat will be absorbed well before it reaches your shoes.

Leave the country to a more temperate climate...
Have tried runner World, they have not addressed this issue. Don't really expected them to, this is more a bombay, chennai and S'pore issue (high humidity).
Guru cotton socks are impossible to wear if one is running for more than an hour in humid weather. If I wear them for a 2hr plus run, blisters are definite.
Mohan, you have got it spot on. I ran for 1hr 40mins today in Baroda in less humid weather with pleasant breeze and everything was perfect.
I think, if you are running for more then 2 hours(i haven't done that yet) and it is not a competition/marathon, then i guess you should keep an extra pair of socks with you, that should help
Thanks guru. I do carry an extra pair (socks) to wear after the run, but the shoes are so wet that they don't serve much of a purpose. Maybe carry my second pair of shoes with me.... that would be a fool proof solution. (it should fit quite comfortably in my running backpack)!!
